Port owners are becoming over-reliant on foreign expertise
Greenbulb Energy Sdn. Bhd. which was set up in 2014, aims to be the preferred choice of instrumentation provider in Asia-Pacific. It also hopes to spearhead sustainable green technology with practical solutions for seaports and power generation plants in region by 2023. Greenbulb is a turnkey projects company that has created a niche as a control systems' solutions provider that modernises port crane. According to the founder and managing director Andy Low, Greenbulb takes pride in being and the only company in Malaysia to have an in-house design team without dependency on foreign talents. He notes that Greenbulb is now recognised as a solutions provider for modernisation of port cranes.
The company has successfully completed critical projects in Indonesia, and joint projects in electrification of two quay cranes for Sarawak Civil Service Department. The company has added another feather to its cap by venturing into the marine sector, having secured a service order from KOTUG Netherlands, a tugboat service company recently.
The company has also provide its services to Indonesia, Hongkong, The Phillipines, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. Greenbulb has also established an affiliate company in Jakarta, Indonesia to expand its presence and fulfill the market needs of port and power plant operators there, Low says. He adds that the company has won and completed numerous projects in Indonesia inthe past three years. "I realised that the Indonesia market was too reliant on foreign solutions and since the market potential is huge with the trend of going from manual to automation, this further motivated me to find solutions to grow the local workforce whilst offering our customers competitive pricing."
